VeriFactu for salons and barbershops

VeriFactu is the Spanish tax agency's system requiring every receipt you issue to be recorded, chained and impossible to alter afterwards. It applies to salons and barbershops exactly as it does to any other business that invoices through software or a POS. Here is what matters, with the dates that are actually in force.

What VeriFactu is, briefly

Every time you issue a receipt, your software creates an invoicing record carrying a digital hash chained to the one before it. That chain means a sale cannot be deleted or edited without it showing, and the QR printed on the receipt lets your client and the tax agency check it. It is not an electronic invoice sent to the client: it is a record of what you issued.

From when does it apply?

The dates were pushed back a year by Royal Decree-Law 15/2025. If you have read somewhere that it was 2026, that information is out of date.

  • Companies (S.L. and other legal entities): 1 January 2027.
  • Self-employed and everyone else covered: 1 July 2027.
  • Software makers have been bound since 29 July 2025: only compliant programs may be sold today.

What your software has to do

It makes no difference whether you invoice from a POS, a booking system or a cash register — the requirement is the same.

  • Sequential numbering, with no gaps and no jumps
  • A chained hash: every record links to the previous one
  • A QR code on every document you issue
  • Records that cannot be changed without leaving a trace
  • And yes, that covers receipts and simplified invoices, not only full invoices

What happens if your software does not comply

Article 201 bis of the General Tax Law provides for fines of up to €50,000 per financial year for a business using non-compliant software, and up to €150,000 a year for whoever makes it. That is why it is worth looking at what you take payments with now, rather than in June 2027.

How trimly handles it

trimly has VeriFactu built in: the hash chain is per shop, the QR is printed on the receipt, and there is an export ready to hand to your accountant. It is not a separate module you subscribe to, nor a feature of a higher tier — it is included.

And it is included on the free plan too. If you work alone you pay nothing to comply: €0 a month, no card and no expiry date.

What we are not going to tell you

We are not the only booking system with VeriFactu, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something. VeriFactu is becoming an entry requirement in this market rather than anyone's advantage. What does differ between providers is whether they charge for it separately, which plan they put it in, and how far it goes: cancellations, corrective records and an export your accountant can genuinely use.

Comply without paying for software

If you work alone, trimly costs you €0 a month with VeriFactu inside. No card and no minimum term.

Frequently asked questions

Does VeriFactu apply to a small salon?
If you issue receipts or invoices through software or a POS, yes. What decides it is not the size of the business but whether you invoice with software. Anyone still writing everything by hand in a receipt book falls outside it, though in practice that is now very rare.
Do I have to do anything before 2027?
Make sure the software you take payments with is going to comply. If yours already does, there is nothing further to do on the day it comes into force. If it does not, the sooner you change it the less of a rush you will be in.
Are VeriFactu and TicketBAI the same thing?
No. TicketBAI is the Basque Country's system and Batuz is Bizkaia's, and they run on their own terms. If you invoice in a foral territory, theirs is what applies to you, not VeriFactu.
Do I need a digital certificate?
To submit the records to the tax agency, yes — a business certificate is required. It is the same one you already use for your dealings with the tax office.
