How to connect your AI assistant to trimly

What the AI connector is and what it can do

trimly has a connector for AI assistants — in technical terms, an MCP server — at https://trimly.es/api/mcp. Any assistant that speaks that language, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor, connects there and can do much of what you'd otherwise do from the admin panel, but through chat: create your business's website from scratch, change a day's opening hours, add someone to the team, update the website's text and colours, switch the language, or upload a logo from a link. It isn't a stripped-down version of trimly or a separate chatbot: it's the same business, with the same panel behind it — you just ask for it in your own words instead of clicking, and the change goes live immediately. Before you start

You don't need a trimly account or a website already set up. If your business is already on trimly, the assistant signs in with your usual account. If it doesn't exist yet, that's fine too: you can create the business right there during the connection conversation, and the assistant itself can walk you through it with a simple request like «create the website for my business». The only real requirement is an assistant that supports connectors or MCP servers — ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor all do — and a browser to sign in or register, because that step always happens outside the chat, in a trimly.es tab.

Connecting from ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor

The first step is the same in all three: paste the connector address, https://trimly.es/api/mcp, wherever each assistant keeps its connectors. In ChatGPT it's under «Settings» → «Connectors», inside developer mode; add a new connector there and paste the address. In Claude.ai, go to «Settings» → «Connectors» → «Add custom connector» and paste the same address. In Cursor it's done from the MCP settings, adding a new server with that address. Once that's done, the assistant opens your browser so you can sign in to trimly.es or create an account if you don't have one, and shows you a list with one line per permission it's asking for. Press «Allow» and it's connected; press «Deny» instead and the assistant gets no access and nothing changes.

What to ask it: prompts that work

The more specific you are, the better it understands you, but you don't need any special phrasing — ask it the way you'd ask a new employee. A few prompts that work well: «Create my barbershop's website with these services and this schedule», «Change Saturday's opening hours», «Add Marta to the team with her afternoon schedule», «Set this logo from this link», «Translate the website into Catalan», «Turn on manual approval for bookings», and «What's left before my website is ready?». If the assistant needs a detail you haven't given it — a time, a service name — it asks before touching anything; it doesn't invent details or publish a change halfway done.

Permissions: what it sees and what it doesn't

During the connection you see, line by line, exactly what the assistant will be able to do: read your business's configuration, and — if you allow it — create the business and change its details and hours, its services and prices, its team and their hours, the website's text and colours, its languages, its address, its booking rules, and upload images (logo, hero photo, gallery, team photos) from a link. Each line is one specific permission, not a blanket checkbox: you approve exactly that, nothing more.

The assistant never sees or touches your clients, their appointments or any payment — none of its tools allow that, whatever you approve during the connection.

How to revoke access, and how long it lasts

You can cut off access whenever you want from «My Profile» → «Connected apps»: once revoked, the assistant can't do anything the next time it tries. No need to notify anyone or wait. Even if you never revoke it yourself, access isn't permanent: each session lasts an hour, and trimly renews it automatically while you keep using the assistant, for up to thirty days from when you connected it. After that you need to approve it again, on the same permissions screen as the first time.

Common issues

If the connection screen says the link has expired, just ask the assistant to connect again: that link is only valid for ten minutes, so it's normal for it to expire if you take a while to decide. If the assistant says it can't upload a photo, the reason is almost always that you gave it a file instead of a link: give it an https address that points straight to a JPEG, PNG or WebP image, and that's under the size limit. If it tells you it's missing permission for something, you probably revoked access or never approved that particular permission: reconnect it and check the list before pressing «Allow». And if you ever want to stop altogether, you know where: «My Profile» → «Connected apps» → «Revoke».
