How to find your Google Place ID and set it in trimly
If the "Get directions" button on your site opens a street that is not yours, it is almost always because Google is guessing from the text of your address. A Place ID removes the guess: it is the code Google uses to identify your business, and there is only one like it in the world. You copy it once and never touch it again.
1. What a Place ID fixes
Without one, a tap on "Get directions" searches Google for your shop name alongside your address, and Google picks whichever result looks best. It usually gets it right, but a street sharing its name with a town in another province can win that guess. With a Place ID there is no search to lose: the link opens your listing and no one else’s. It is also what lets the review email send clients straight to rating you on Google.
2. Open the Place ID finder
In trimly go to "Settings" → "Shop" and scroll to "Google reviews". Under the field there is a link, "Find my Place ID", that opens Google’s own tool: a map with a search box above it. Leave this tab open — you come back to it in step 4.

3. Search for your business by name, not by street
In the map’s search box type your shop’s name and pick it from the list. The map drops a marker and a small card appears above it with the name and a line starting "Place ID". That code, which nearly always begins with ChIJ, is yours: copy the whole thing, with no spaces before or after.
Search by address instead of by name and Google hands you the ID of the street door, not of your business. Before copying anything, check the card shows your shop’s name. This is the single most common mistake, and everything looks right until you notice reviews are not reaching your listing.
4. Paste it into trimly and save
Go back to "Settings" → "Shop" → "Google reviews", paste the code into "Google Place ID" and save. There is no account to connect and no permission to grant: it is a public identifier, the same one that appears on your listing.
5. Check you copied the right one
Open your site and press "Get directions" in the footer. Google Maps should open straight on your business, with your name on the listing. If somewhere else comes up, the ID is not yours: go back to step 3 and search by name again.
6. What if your shop is not on Google at all?
Then you have no listing yet, and without a listing there is no Place ID. Create one for free on Google Business Profile with the shop’s name, address and phone; Google confirms the premises exist and within a few days you can look your ID up. In the meantime, write the full address in "Settings" → "Shop" → "Address", with postcode and city: that alone gets "Get directions" right in most cases.
