How to create your hair salon website, with online booking inside

Your hair salon website is built in trimly in about ten minutes and without any code: name, services with their real durations (a cut does not take as long as a balayage), opening hours and team. It goes live at yourshop.trimly.es with online booking inside. Free if you work on your own; with a team, €19.99 a month and no commission per appointment.

How it works, step by step

About ten minutes in total. None of the steps asks you to know anything about websites.

  1. 1

    Open the account

An email, a password and you are in. Nobody asks you for a card just to look around, or for a phone number to call you on later, or starts a clock while you make up your mind.

  2. 2

Give the salon its name and its address on the web

Whatever you type as the name generates the address: “Studio Marta” ends up at studio-marta.trimly.es. That is the one you will be handing out tomorrow. Your own domain, if you have one or buy one later, plugs in on top whenever you feel like it.

  3. 3

Go through the menu and put your prices on it

Women's cut, root colour, balayage highlights, men's cut, full colour, wash and blow-dry and kids' cut arrive already written with a starting duration. You delete what you don't offer, write your own price next to each one and add what is missing, like a toner or a keratin treatment.

  4. 4

Mark the days and the hours you open

If you close at midday you say so, and the morning and the afternoon become two separate stretches. Then each service takes up as much of the chair as it really lasts: if highlights are three hours, three hours are blocked and no other booking fits inside them.

  5. 5

    Hand the link around

The page already opens on any phone. The link goes in the Instagram bio, on the salon's Google listing and on the poster by the door; from then on clients give themselves an appointment while your hands are in someone's colour.

Afterwards, if you want to: connect your own domain, add more languages, switch on deposits or card payment, and upload your logo and your photos. None of that is needed to get started.

What changes when the website belongs to a hair salon

In a salon the problem is not showing pretty photos. It is making the diary add up when a twenty-minute cut and a three-hour colour live side by side, and making sure everyone on the team is paid for their own work.

Durations that are nothing like a cut's

A balayage can run to three hours between application, waiting and the final blow-dry. In the diary that service takes exactly that long, and while it runs no slot is offered inside it, not even a thirty-minute one that looked as though it would fit. Each service keeps its own time, so a wash and blow-dry can be twenty minutes and a full colour two and a half hours without one dragging the other. The day you change a duration, the slots the client sees change with it.

A price per professional

The same cut is not worth the same from someone with two years behind them as from someone with fifteen, and papering over it with an average annoys both sides. Each professional can have their own price and their own time for each service, across three levels — junior, senior and master — and that is what the client sees: first they pick a person, then they see the price that goes with them. It works the other way round too, when someone on the team does not do highlights yet and you would rather they did not show up on that service.

Several services in a single appointment

Cut and colour are almost never asked for separately, and making people book twice is how you end up with only one of the two booked. The client ticks both in the same booking, the durations add up and they are only shown times where the whole thing fits. It lands as one appointment, with one notification and one total, and it is settled in one go at the end. If they add a hair treatment on top, the slot stretches another half hour without you rearranging anything by hand.

A deposit for the long appointments

Someone not turning up when you have kept the afternoon for them is not a lost hour: it is the afternoon. You can ask for a deposit on bookings made online and set the amount service by service, so a full colour asks for a good deal more than a wash and blow-dry. And if you would rather ask nobody up front, you can let it kick in on its own with people who have missed before, setting how many absences it takes. It is charged by card at the moment of booking and comes off the price when the client sits down.

The menu a new salon starts with, with the starting duration of each service. This is how it reads on your website until you change it.

  • Women's cut & blow-dry45 min
  • Root touch-up60 min
  • Balayage180 min
  • Men's cut30 min
  • Full head colour90 min
  • Wash & blow-dry30 min
  • Kids haircut30 min

The duration decides which slots are offered when someone books; adjust it if yours is different.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to create a hair salon website?

If you are on your own in the salon, nothing: the one-professional plan does not expire, does not ask for a card and includes the website, the address on trimly.es, online booking and card payment. As soon as there are two of you or more you move to the team plan, a flat monthly fee whatever the number of people, without us keeping a percentage of what you bill. The only thing paid separately is the packs of client messages.

Can I set a different price per stylist?

Yes. Each person on the team carries their own price and their own time on each service, split across three levels: junior, senior and master. The client chooses who they want to go to and sees that person's price, not a salon average. And if someone does not do a service, you take it off them and they stop appearing on it.

How do I stop someone booking a cut in a colour slot?

You don't have to watch for it: the diary only shows times where the chosen service fits whole. If a colour with highlights takes three hours of chair, those three hours are closed to any other booking. You can also leave a few minutes of margin at the end of each service, to tidy up and set up for the next one, and those minutes count when the slots are worked out too.

Can I bring my clients over from Booksy, Fresha or an Excel sheet?

Yes. You download your list as a CSV from wherever you keep it and upload it from the dashboard; names and phone numbers land inside, and that is enough for you to start booking them in yourself. If the sheet is your own from years back, those two columns are all it takes. Nothing is charged for bringing your clients across, not least because nobody is bringing them: they were already yours.

Can clients book two services back to back?

Yes. They tick cut and colour in the same booking, the time is worked out by adding the two, and they are only offered times where everything fits. One single appointment lands in your diary, with both services written on it and the total already done, so there is nothing to piece together when it is time to charge.

Can I take a deposit only for colour?

Not exactly: the deposit applies to every booking made online, but you set the amount service by service. You can leave a high one on colours and highlights, the appointments that take half your day, and a small one on a cut or a blow-dry. It is paid by card at booking and comes off the final price; if the client does not turn up, the deposit stays with the salon.

Does the website come with my photos and my logo?

It comes with whichever you upload, and none of them is required to publish it. From the dashboard you change the main colour, upload the logo and fill the gallery with work done in your own chair. The reviews your clients leave after their appointment show on that same page. If you upload nothing, the website still reads properly with the name, the menu and the hours.
