How to put your barbershop on Google Maps and get booked
When someone searches “barbershop near me”, what they get is Google Maps. If your shop has no listing, you are not on that list. Creating one is free and takes a little while; setting it up properly is what makes the difference.
1. Create the listing in Google Business Profile
Go to Google Business Profile and create your business profile. Use the name exactly as it appears on your sign, without padding it with words like “cheap barbershop” or the neighbourhood: stuffing the name breaks Google’s rules and can get the listing suspended. Choose “Barber shop” as the primary category, and enter the address and phone number exactly as they appear everywhere else.
2. Verify that the business really exists
Google will ask you to prove the premises are yours, usually with a video of the place, a postcard to the address or a phone call. Until you complete that step, your listing does not appear on the map. It normally takes a few days, so if you are about to open, start this before the opening day rather than on it.
3. Fill in what people look at before deciding
A client choosing between two barbershops looks at three things: whether you are open, what the place looks like and what it costs. Put your hours in and remember the public holidays, upload real photos of the shop and of your own cuts (not stock images), and list your services with prices. A listing with photos and full opening hours gets picked far more often than a half-finished one.
4. Add a booking link to the listing
Google lets you add an appointment link to the profile. Point it at your booking page, not at your phone number: someone finding you at eleven at night will not call, but they will book if they can do it right then. If you use trimly, our Google Place ID guide covers how to wire the listing and your page together.
5. Ask for reviews, and answer all of them
Reviews are one of the heaviest factors in which barbershop comes up first on the map, and also the first thing a new client reads. Ask when the client is happy, right as you finish, and reply to all of them, the bad ones included: it shows far more than people think, and it is the only thing you can actually do about a review you dislike.
